A petition is in place at www.wmfd.com and maybe elsewhere that requests President Obama or an authoritative representative to face the workers and community of central Ohio, and explain why the most efficient and "green" plant in the Stamping business is being shuttered for a political, not financial reason. I would like to know why!
Please, if you care about this community at all, sign it. Tell your family, tell your friends, Tell your ex (so you can continue payments.) We deserve honest answers, not a poorly copied form letter.
If you can't sign the petition, Please contact your representative immedietally. Here are Senator Brown's.

And this will accomplish what?

Bringing some federal lackey to Ontario will accomplish nothing more than to waste taxpayer dollars on airline tickets, jet fuel, and wages. It WILL NOT change the minds of either the government's Auto Task Force nor General Motors. Lets not forget who negotiated which plants closed, um... oh yea, it's the guys who's plants are staying open.

If you don't believe politics are involved (I mean UAW politics) then just look at the numbers. The Ontario plant is either #1 or #2 in every measurable category. You can't hold geography against Ontario, because it is no worse off (farther away) than most of the other plant which are staying open.

From a purely business perspective, Ontario should stay open.

The unfortunate reality is that all of the "protest" talk, and appeals to so-called "higher powers" does nothing but give the workers at Ontario false hope. It make you feel good for now, but the reality will soon set in and it is the fact that the plant is closing , and it is time to move on to other things. It's unfortunate, but it is REALITY!

This is NOT Detroit, Cleveland, or some major city... this is a small town. Nobody cares about Ontario, and nobody will fight for Ontario in either Detroit or Washington, not to mention the Solidarity House!

I was very surprised to hear about your plant closing as well as Grand Rapids. your plants have performed very well in the past. Doesn't make much sense. My plant is supposed to stay open (Pontiac Stamping) but the new work rules they plan to implement are going to make working here drag. The new GM wants to control everything and the union can't do anything about it. They are going to outsource every job they can. In a way they may as well close it.  Undecided

I am sorry that the plant is closing. Iretired form there in 1993. I came down from fisher #1 in Flint michigan were the UAW got started. The closed my plant in 1983. When I came down here I tol the local union that they better get ready for this to happen here. They just laughed at me. Now it has hallend to this plant. We better get ready for the worst. The city I came from is now one of the worst city's for crime in the country. The people here don't like the GM people and the union. But with out it these people don't understand that they would not have the jobs and things they have with out the unios around the country. When I started at GM I made $2.64 a hour. We worked hard to get the things we have today. With out the union this country would be in trouble. I wish people would wake up and see that.
