We have returned from the leadership meeting at the Solidarity House in
Detroit with UAW General Motors VP Cal Rapson. There was a lot of
discussion surrounding the Negotiations with the 5 keep sites and the
direction they are headed. There are still some unanswered questions we
have and expect to receive more information this week. However, we want
to report the following accurate information:
We will no longer be under a "Master Agreement¨. The keep sites
will have their own individual agreement which will be plant specific.
We will be considered an IPS (Independent Parts Supplier) Group.
Production Wages will be frozen and be maintained at the current
levels we have today.
Skilled Trades wages will be reduced by approx. $3.00 an hour in the
following manor:
$1.00 reduction immediately following ratification
$1.00 reduction approx 6 months after ratification
$1.00 reduction approx 1 year later
Our Health Care we have today will remain intact.
No flow backs between the 5 keeps sites. However, our flow back
rights from the 2007 UAW/Delphi MOU remain intact.
The severances negotiated in 2007 UAW/Delphi MOU for members
hired after Oct.8, 2005 will be reduced.
Work identified in Attachment A1 of the 2007 UAW/Delphi MOU
will be located in Lockport. We argued the fact that during our COA
in 2008, we were rewarded the replacement for GMT 900 which was
cancelled. But consequently, through negotiations, Lockport Site will
be rewarded the next generation trucks (K2XX -HVAC/PTC) which
begins production in 2012/2013. Other models besides trucks we
build today will end production beginning in 2012 and ending in
2013. Our goal must be to put a plan together to get replacement
models along with any new products for our site. Such tasks will
include potential a ˇ§second tierˇ¨ of workers along with productivity
improvements.
We were advised in order to remain competitive; there will be other
necessary modifications we must consider and ratify. These
modifications will be consistent with the 2009 GM Addendum we
discussed at our special meeting in October along with achieving a
93% on the scorecard.
The Fate of Lockport is now up to us. We will have our own Master
Agreement and the membership will have the final decision on the viability
of the Lockport Site. The membership will have the chance to decide
Lockport life-line¨. We were advised that with no modifications, it would
be nearly impossible to bid any future work.
We are STRONGLY recommending all members come to the union meeting
Sunday January 17th at 11:00 a.m. at the UAW Hall to have further
discussion. We will hold an open forum on the future of Lockport and the
direction the negotiations will take us in a much greater detail.
In Solidarity,
